March 2022 RHS Parent/Guardian Letter

 Good Morning, Parents and Guardians of RHS!

The sun is shining, the temperature will be above freezing this weekend, spring sports are beginning to practice, and the cast and crew of the musical are filling the auditorium with the songs from Grease. Life is good at Revere High School. With the beginning of March, we are on a straight sprint towards End of Course exams, ACT, AP exams, Senior Internship Experiences, course selections, and countless activities that contribute to the holistic student experience. To keep you up to speed with all the significant events, I recommend that everyone add our RHS Public Google calendar. You can find it on the revereschools.org webpage. Go to the High School tab and click on Calendar at the top of the page. If major events are changed, we correct this information first. 

There are a few upcoming events that I want to share with you and also give a little more information about.

Wednesday, March 9 - Professional Learning Community (PLC) late start. We need all juniors and seniors to attend class meetings at 7:34. Juniors will report to the gym to cover ACT information and seniors to the auditorium to discuss prom, graduation, and scholarships. Classes will begin promptly at 8:34. 

Wednesday, March 9 - Active Minds Guest Speaker Abraham Sculley - Freshmen and sophomores will attend the presentation during 6th period and juniors and seniors during 7th. We have a free community presentation at 4:00.

Thursday, March 10 - RHS Parent-Teacher Conferences - 4:00-7:30 pm. Please email Lisa Henretty if you would like to schedule a conference at lhenretty@revereschools.org. If you have any questions about your student’s course recommendations or their performance in a class, this is an excellent opportunity to work with our teachers.

Friday, March 11 - RHS Schedule Input Day and Senior Athletic Signing Day - Starting at 2:00, our 9th-11th graders will report to their records rooms to input their course selections. They must have their course recommendation sheet with them. Our teachers will help our students review their choices before they are finalized to minimize potential errors. Our senior class will be invited to the cafeteria to celebrate with their classmates who have accepted an athletic scholarship.

Tuesday, March 15 - ACT Test Day For all our juniors, we ask that they are in the auxiliary gym (unless otherwise shared with them) by 7:25 am. The test will run the majority of the morning. The rest of the school has a normal schedule.

Wednesday, March 16 - Final Minutemen Time schedule for the 2021-22 school year. A special guest representing Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) will host a session for all interested students. Please see Mr. Faris if you would like to attend.

Friday, March 18 - Inservice Day for Staff - No school for our students.

Tuesday, March 22 - 10th Grade ELA End of Course Exam Part I - The sophomores will be taking the exam during first - third periods. All other students wil have a normal schedule.

Thursday, March 24 - 10th Grade ELA End of Course Exam Part II - The sophomores will be taking the exam during first - third periods. All other students wil have a normal schedule.

Friday, March 25 - Revere Alumni Association HOF Induction Ceremony and Assemblies - Our students will attend a few assemblies on this day to learn from and connect with some of our distinguished alumni.

Week of March 28 - CVCC Spring Break

Thursday, March 31 - End of Third Quarter

Friday, April 1 - Inservice Day for Staff - No school for our students.

  August 1, 2023 Happy August, Revere High School!!! I am so excited for the 2023-24 school year. We have so many amazing opportunities planned for our students and families. On June 28th, I emailed a list of important dates and general information regarding events that kick off the school year. If you are new to us or have misplaced the email, you can always find my parent/family communication archived at https://minutemenprincipal.blogspot.com/ As families are starting to prepare for the first day of school, buying supplies, and shopping for clothes, I want to share with you a few things. Drawstring bags are allowed in class, but backpacks are not - Revere High School is growing in numbers, and space is at a premium. Since many of our classes will be near capacity, there is not enough space for students to bring large, bulky bags to each class. Students may use a drawstring bag to help keep items organized, but they will be encouraged to keep most of their supplies in their locker
